The Xbox One reported has been sold 2 million units in 13 countries in 18-day only, according to a official blog post from Microsoft on Wednesday. The Xbox Wire post provides more details, reporting that consumers purchased an average of 111,111 consoles per day. It added that Xbox One consoles have been used to watch TV, play games and open apps for 83 million hours since its Nov. 22 launch.
Microsoft also revealed that at peak demand, customers were ordering 1,000 Xbox One consoles per second on Amazon, according to John Love, the director of video games at Amazon. The Xbox One retails for $500. This is a much stronger launch than its predecessor, the Xbox 360, which sold 326,000 units in its first eight days on sale, though the NPD data only accounts for North America.
